Anna Wiget is a visual artist based in Basel. Her practice is characterised by observations of complex interdependencies between the individual, society and the system.
Her work revolves around symbolism, artefacts, language, personal narratives - themes that are deeply rooted in her biography: growing up in a Swiss-Filipino family and influenced by the study of Taoist teachings, she focuses on the tension between Western rational thinking and the mystical experience of East Asian cultures.
Inspired by scientific theories and the visual language of cosmology, Wiget develops an aesthetic that is both critical and fascinated by scientific findings. Her works reflect an ambivalent relationship to research - fuelled by curiosity, but also by distance.
